Delays to Continue at I-25/84th Avenue Interchange

January 27, 2016 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - THORNTON – Drivers should continue to anticipate delays for another week, especially during the morning commuting hours, on southbound Interstate 25 through Northglenn and Thornton.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is widening I-25 through the area and is rebuilding drainage inlets along the right shoulder, just south of the 84thAvenue Interchange, requiring the auxiliary lane to be closed just south of the southbound on-ramp.   That has shortened the ramp, forcing drivers to enter the right through lane of I-25 sooner than normal, slowing down traffic even more due to the early merge.

CDOT has accelerated the inlet reconstruction so it can be completed within the next few days.  However, the lane needs to remain closed during non-work hours to allow the concrete to dry.

Drivers should consider using alternate southbound routes during the morning drive, including U.S. 287 (Federal Boulevard) west of I-25 to U.S. 36 and back to I-25.

CDOT apologizes for the extra delay and driver inconvenience through this area.
