Service Expanding for Bustang’s West Route

October 21, 2015 - Statewide Transportation Plan - Weekend service begins next month.

Denver – The Colorado Department of Transportation’s new interregional express bus service, Bustang, is adding weekend service to its route between Denver and Glenwood Springs on Saturday, Nov. 21

Bustang will offer one round trip on Saturdays and Sundays: Glenwood Springs to Denver in the morning, and Denver to Glenwood Springs in the late afternoon.  The success of the route on weekdays and strong public demand to add weekends fueled the need from Colorado’s first-ever, state-owned and operated bus system.

Along with the seven day a week service, Bustang will continue to adjust route scheduling to improve on-time performance and streamline connections with transit partners. Passengers will be able to view the new west route schedule and other scheduling changes beginning Nov. 16 at www.ridebustang.com.

“Bustang continues to help CDOT connect Coloradans to a multi-modal transportation system,” said CDOT Executive Director Shailen Bhatt. “Expanding Bustang is one more option for those who want travel alternatives.”

Since its launch in July, Bustang has connected major population and employment centers and local transit entities during the week.  It provides a reliable transit alternative for the traveling public along the heavily traveled Interstate 25 and Interstate 70 corridors, connecting Fort Collins, Denver and Colorado Springs, and Glenwood Springs and Denver.

The bus stops at existing park-and-ride locations along each route with fares reflected by length of trip. Multiple trip packages are available at a discounted price as well as a 25% discount for persons with disabilities and seniors 65 years old and older. Bus schedules and fares are available for download online at www.ridebustang.com.

Bustang offers a comfortable, affordable, cutting-edge transportation alternative. Each coach is equipped with restrooms, bike racks, free WiFi, power outlets and USB ports. Coaches offer a 50-passenger capacity and are accessible for persons with disabilities.
