Daytime lane closures planned for Saturdays along I-70 mountain corridor
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – With the mid December opening of the I-70 Mountain Corridor Express Lane along eastbound I-70 rapidly approaching, construction crews are taking advantage of the lower traffic volumes this time of year by scheduling Saturday work that requires closing lanes on I-70 through Clear Creek County.
Various daytime lane closures will be in place along eastbound and westbound I-70 between Georgetown and Idaho Springs each Saturday beginning tomorrow and continuing until the Thanksgiving holiday.
Crews are working in this area to widen eastbound I-70 to create a third, optional tolled express lane for use during peak travel periods.
On Saturdays there will be lane closures in various locations in both directions while crews put signs in place, install fiberoptics to the electronic boards and perform various other activities to prepare the Express Lane for the mid-December opening.
