Closures in I-25/US 6 interchange planned for Tuesday night

October 26, 2015 - Metro Denver/CDOT Region 1 - Additional work on US 6 Bridges project requires overnight closures.

DENVER – Construction crews will be doing various work activities along westbound US Highway 6 overnight Tuesday, Oct. 27, that require closing westbound US 6 at Kalamath Street along with the northbound and southbound I-25 ramps to westbound US 6. All closures will be in place from 10 p.m.Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

During this time, crews will be setting two large directional signs that span the westbound highway lanes, installing the rest of the center median light poles, doing asphalt paving work near Knox Court and putting down permanent lane stripes along the westbound US 6 lanes.

During these overnight closures, I-25 motorists should exit at Alameda or Colfax avenues to travel west. Drivers on westbound US 6 wanting to access I-25 will be able to do so by going south on Kalamath to enter either northbound or southbound I-25. Westbound US 6 through traffic should use 8th Avenue.

This work is part of the $98 million US 6 Bridges Design-Build Project to replace six obsolete bridges on US 6 between Knox Court and I-25 and enhance driver safety by eliminating several traffic weave movements along US 6 between Federal Boulevard and I-25. Construction is substantially complete and the contractor, Kraemer North America, is on schedule to finish the project on Dec. 1.

Work to be done between now and then includes addressing miscellaneous punch list items and final landscaping and restoration.
