Single lane closures on WB I-70 at US 6 Bridge Sunday night
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY—Beginning Sunday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. throughMonday, Sept. 28, at 5 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will stripe westbound I-70 over the recently repaired US 6 bridge near Loveland Pass.
The work will require a half-mile closure of westbound I-70 between mile markers 215.8 to MM 216.5. Due to the lane closure, delays should be expected. Once the restriping is complete, the acceleration lane for the on-ramp to westbound I70 will be reopened.
“This activity marks the completion of the repair of the US 6 bridge near Loveland pass, which also repaved and leveled 12 miles of eastbound I-70,” said Paul Jesaitis, CDOT Region 1 Transportation Director. “The project smoothed out damage and potholes, making it a safer highway to travel.”
The overall project is scheduled for completion within the next two weeks. Final painting of railings within the median of the highway and minor repairs to the US 6 bridge are the remaining activities on the project.
APC Construction of Golden, Colorado is the contractor for the $6.5 million project, which is expected to conclude in October 2015. Motorist are encouraged to plan ahead and to use caution while traveling through the construction zone.
