Right lane of WB I-70 at US 6/Loveland Bridge to close from Sunday night to Friday morning for bridge repairs
CLEAR CREEK — Beginning Sunday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. until Friday, Sept. 25, at 12 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will require a half-mile (mile-markers 215.8 to 216.5) single right lane closure of westbound I-70 to conduct necessary repairs of the bridge expansion joints on the US 6 bridge near the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial Tunnels.
“This work is part of a plan to address deterioration of pavement and bridges caused by tire chains, deicing chemicals and heavy vehicle use that occur in winter,” said Paul Jesaitis, CDOT Region 1 Transportation Director.
Due to the lane closure, delays should be expected. Additionally, the I-70 on-ramp from US 6 near Loveland Pass will be closed. Motorist needing to access westbound I-70 from U S6 will be detoured onto eastbound I-70 to Exit 218 and directed to reenter westbound I-70 using that on-ramp. All work is weather dependent.
APC Construction of Golden, Colorado is the contractor for the $6.5 million project, which is expected to conclude in October 2015.
