I-70/Horizon Drive Improvement Project Open House Scheduled tomorrow
MESA COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the City of Grand Junction will host a public open house Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Grand Junction at the Clarion Inn, 755 Horizon Dr. Representatives from CDOT, the City of Grand Junction and the Horizon Drive District will be on hand to discuss the upcoming construction schedule. Anyone interested in the project is invited to stop by at any time to discuss the work with the construction team, which also includes general contractor M.A. Concrete Construction of Grand Junction.
The I-70/Horizon Drive Improvement Project is a 12-month construction project located on Horizon Drive at the interchange with Interstate I-70 (Exit 31) in Grand Junction. Details of the project include the construction on Horizon Drive of two modern-style roundabouts that will assist in improving traffic flow and safety, as well as adding environmental aesthetics to the area. Additional construction improvements include ramp upgrades, concrete sidewalks and gutters and re-surfacing. A new access route for the Grand Junction Visitors Center along Visitor’s Way will also be created. The Horizon Drive Business Improvement District has commissioned the creation and installation of six horse sculptures to the completed product, with the purpose of providing a cohesive look and feel to the area.
