I-70 DeBeque Canyon work moves to daytime hours starting Monday

September 24, 2015 - PROJECT UPDATE - MESA COUNTY/DEBEQUE —Due to progressively lower nighttime temperatures, the paving project in DeBeque Canyon on I-70 from mile marker 49-60 is changing from a night operation to a daytime schedule beginning Monday, September 28.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:  Single lane closures will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound and westbound directions and will continue Monday-Friday until the paving project is complete. Speed limits will be reduced through the work zone to 40 MPH. Please drive “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

This Colorado Department of Transportation resurfacing project began in April this year and is scheduled to be complete in early November.  In addition to repaving, work also included repairing bridge rail and guardrail, installation of delineators and upgrades to barrier. Elam Construction is the contractor for this $9 million dollar project.
