Mount Evans Road Opens Today

August 4, 2015 - Central/Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – CDOT opens Mount Evans Road/State Highway 5 today after a several month roadway stabilization project taking place above Lincoln Lake.

Typically CDOT closes the roadway from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. This year, CDOT will extend the opening to the top until the first significant snowfall, allowing visitors extra time to enjoy one of Colorado's most scenic tourist destinations.

For the next two weeks, CDOT will continue roadwork Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., near mile marker 6.5 of the 14.7 mile-long roadway. During this time, one lane will remain open with flaggers alternating motorists in each direction. Over the weekend, the roadway will be completely open in both directions.
