HPTE Director Michael Cheroutes to pursue new role
As director and founder of CC2I, he will pursue new opportunities as a public-private partnership consultant in Colorado, as well as nationally and internationally.
“We are fortunate Mike chose to share his talents with the HPTE as the Director,” said CDOT Executive Director Shailen Bhatt. “The US 36 Express Lanes are a national example of how leveraging a public-private partnership can deliver innovative critical multi-modal transportation systems that allow our economy to keep moving and growing. He set the stage for the HPTE to help continue to support CDOT’s quest to become the best DOT in the country.”
Cheroutes was responsible for both the passage of FASTER legislation, which has helped to improve the quality of our transportation system, and the creation of the HPTE. Thanks to his efforts, CDOT can rightfully claim to be one of the leading states in innovative financing and public-private partnerships. He has been vested in the success of our transportation system, having also ably served as a Transportation Commissioner as well as the chair of the HPTE Board.
“It has been a privilege to work with CDOT, local and regional communities, the public and our elected officials to bring much-needed mobility and safety improvements to Colorado’s transportation system,” said HPTE Director Michael Cheroutes. “CDOT and HPTE are committed to delivering mobility solutions to meet the demands of Colorado’s growing population and economy. I’m proud to have worked with HTPE to help demonstrate the strength of public-private partnerships as a way to improve our state’s transportation infrastructure.”
Cheroutes will begin his transition in October, and will continue to serve in a temporary part-time role to assist with the I-70 East Project procurement. The HPTE director job position is currently posted at https://www.colorado.gov/dhr/jobs.
