CDOT Expects No Traffic Impacts from Construction During State Fair

August 14, 2015 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO —The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Flatiron Constructors, Inc. have planned construction activities around the 10-day Colorado State Fair event in Pueblo.

In an effort to support the major activities of the community, all construction activities requiring lane closures will cease during this time.

Crews will be working at night on I-25 during the week of August 23; however, there will be no night work from August 28 to September 7.

According to Scott Dalton, CDOT project manager for the Interstate 25: Ilex Street to City Center Drive project, “The State Fair has a 146-year history in Pueblo. We recognize the event’s importance to this region, and have scheduled our work during this timeframe to be off-road with no impacts to traffic on I-25 or any of the surrounding streets that are part of this project.

The I-25 Ilex Street to City Center Drive project is the first project of the New Pueblo Freeway: the reconstruction of I-25 between City Center Drive (1stStreet) and Ilex Street through downtown Pueblo. Construction includes upgrading a number of bridges south of downtown. The project began in July 2015, and is expected to be completed in late 2017. Normal work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some nighttime and weekend work as needed.
