CDOT to Begin Highway Striping on SH 135 on Monday

July 31, 2015 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Motorists urged to drive with patience, do not pass over wet paint.

GUNNISON COUNTY – Next Monday through Wednesday, August 3-5, the Colorado Department of Transportation will stripe State Highway 135 between Gunnison and Crested Butte (mile point 0 to 27.48).

Because of the heavy summer traffic (this stretch sees an average annual daily traffic count of 7,000 vehicles a day, and well beyond that during summer months), CDOT is urging patience and cautious driving during this three-day project. The paint truck will pull over when it is safe to do so; otherwise, the equipment is moving slowly and drivers must stay behind to avoid crossing over wet traffic markings.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Motorists will encounter a slow-moving striping truck and delays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.
