Full Closure on Wadsworth Parkway Over US 36 and on US 36 Under McCaslin This Week
BROOMFIELD/SUPERIOR – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, crews will be making improvements to the riding surface of the Wadsworth Parkway bridge over US 36. To safely complete this work, there will be a full closure of the northbound and southbound lanes on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On Saturday, June 13, southbound Wadsworth Parkway will be closed on top of the bridge but northbound access will remain open. On Sunday, June 14, northbound Wadsworth Parkway will be closed on top of the bridge, but southbound access will remain open.
During this work, one direction of travel will remain open. Restricted traffic will access the detour routes via the on- and off-ramps on Wadsworth Parkway, which will remain open. Only access across the bridge will be restricted, and signage and traffic control will be on-site to assist the traveling public.
Also, eastbound and westbound US 36 (underneath the McCaslin bridge) will have nightly closures, June 14-20, 10 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., as needed for work on the bridge. If worked is completed prior to posted days and times, the highway will remain open. Traffic will be detoured on and off the highway via the McCaslin on- and off-ramps.
The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that is building an express lane in each direction on US 36, in addition to the two free general purpose lanes. The Express Lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and tolled vehicles. In addition, the project is replacing several bridges, building a commuter bikeway, adding BRT improvements, and installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1, from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior, will open to the public this summer. Phase 2, from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, will open in 2016.
