Resurfacing work begins on SH 13

May 26, 2015 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Road surface replacement at two sites will result in smoother ride.

RIO BLANCO/MOFFAT COUNTIES — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and its contractor partner, Elam Construction, Inc., will begin work today, weather permitting, on resurfacing SH 13 in two locations:

  • Site A is located in Rio Blanco County, North of Meeker from approximately mile post 50.77 to 56.0

  • Site B is located in Moffat County, North of Craig from approximately mile post 104.0 to 111.0

Resurfacing of the existing roadway will begin at Site B in Moffat County. The project will also include guardrail repair and replacement. The work will rehabilitate and preserve the pavement in these areas and provide improved ride quality for motorists.

The $3.5 million project was awarded to Elam Construction, Inc. of Grand Junction, Colorado, and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 2, 2015.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No night or weekend work is expected. Speed limits will be reduced to 35 mph through the construction zone. There will be no restrictions for oversize vehicles for this project. Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures with delays being at a maximum of 15 minutes per flagger station.
