Work to resume on US 40 in Steamboat Springs

April 27, 2015 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - CDOT and Connell Resources will resume work on Monday, May 4th on US 40 in Steamboat Springs starting with the Pine Grove intersection.

ROUTT COUNTY-The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Connell Resources will resume work on Monday, May 4th on US 40 in Steamboat Springs starting with the Pine Grove intersection. The project limits of this phase of work are between milepost 130-135 from Elk River Road to Walton Creek Road Intersection.

Work in the month of May will include various concrete curb & gutters, sidewalks, ADA curb ramp improvements as well as milling the existing asphalt and re-paving the intersection of US 40 and Pine Grove Road.  Other work includes guardrail and fence installation at Walton Creek Road and Mt. Werner overpass.

IMPACTS: Pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution during construction, work will be near or around existing sidewalks and every effort will be made to keep sidewalks open. Also please continue to use both lanes to the merge point and then politely merge over.

During the project, motorists can expect various alternating single-lane, multiple lane shifts or closures. Delays are expected to be about 10-20 minutes from one end of the work zone to the other. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. during the night closures.  Some weekend work may be possible.

Listed below are more specific work zones that can be expected and side streets impacted at these intersections:

  • Shoulder closures from Anglers to Pine Grove intersection for concrete removal and replacement.

  • Eastbound & westbound alternating lanes from Anglers to Pine Grove intersection, milling of the existing asphalt, and new paving.

  • NO WORK will be performed from 13th to 3rd Street.

During construction, motorists are encouraged to use Mt. Werner Road for access to Central Park area rather than Pine Grove intersection.
