Multiple Overnight Closures on US 36 in April

April 6, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - April 6-8, 10-13, and 12-14.

BROOMFIELD – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, there will be multiple upcoming closures on US 36 -- two separate overnight closures on eastbound and westbound US 36 to complete critical work on the East and West Flatiron bridges and an additional closure of the Wadsworth Parkway on-ramps for paving. Detours will be in place for all closures.

The first is a three-night closure of eastbound and westbound US 36, April 6-8, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., from Interlocken Loop to McCaslin Boulevard. This closure is necessary to complete expansion joints on the West Flatiron bridge.

The second set of closures is a full weekend closure of the Wadsworth Parkway on-ramps. Starting at 10 p.m., Friday, April 10, through 5:30 a.m., Monday, April 13, the westbound US 36 on-ramp from southbound Wadsworth Parkway and the loop ramp from northbound Wadsworth Parkway onto westbound US 36 will be closed for paving.

The final set of closures is a three-night closure of eastbound and westbound US 36, April 12-14, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., from Interlocken Loop to Wadsworth Parkway, to complete critical work on the East Flatiron bridge.

“This is a critical time on US 36 as we approach Phase 1 completion,” said CDOT Project Director Mark Gosselin. “We are putting the final touches on our bridges and look forward to opening Phase 1 to the traveling public this summer.”

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that is building an express lane in each direction on US 36, in addition to the two free general purpose lanes. The Express Lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and tolled vehicles. In addition, the project is replacing several bridges, building a commuter bikeway, adding BRT improvements, and installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management.  Phase 1, from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior, will open to the public this summer. Phase 2, from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, will open in 2016.
