Additional State Highway 3 rock fall work next week requires one-lane traffic
The contractor, TK Construction, has wrapped up rock fall work south of Telluride and—as anticipated and announced last season—will now return to place additional cable nets on the rock slope above SH 3. Final lane striping will also be installed next week.
After the morning commute on Monday, south SH 3 will be under one-lane traffic control from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. between US 160/550 and Sawmill Road (south). Minor delays are expected while traffic alternates between directions. The work should not require any full traffic holds. Weather permitting, all work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day, Friday, April 24.
The Carbon Junction Trailhead and parking area will be open during construction.
The full project—contracted to TK Construction for $1.56 million*—also included rock fall mitigation on SH 145 just south of Telluride. The SH 145 work is complete today.
