Work to begin again on I-70 bridge project in Eagle County
This Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project consists of repairing and rehabilitating both the eastbound and westbound bridge structures located at approximately milepost 168.7, at the point where I-70 crosses over both the Eagle River and US 6. More specifically, work includes girder repair, bridge deck repair and re-paving and reinforcing current structures.
TRAFFIC AND RECREATIONAL IMPACTS: Intermittent lane closures along US 6 at approximately mile maker 172 and on I-70 at mile marker 168.7 both east and westbound. The bike path adjacent to westbound US 6 may be closed intermittently, please pay attention to flaggers situated on the project. This week may also see possible shoulder closures from mile marker 166.5 to 171.2 on I-70 for sign installation.
During construction, work hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. Night work is expected. Speeds will be reduced in the area and vehicles over 11 feet will be restricted. Boat ramp access to the Eagle River at the construction site will be temporarily inaccessible after the construction start date and bicyclists and pedestrians may expect intermittent delays on the bike path directly underneath the work zone for equipment access.
Structures, Inc. of Englewood, Colorado is the contractor for the $8.1 million project. It is scheduled for completion before July 2016.
