WB I-70 Daytime Closure, Colfax to Tower, for Road Repair

March 4, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Ames Granite will close westbound I-70 between Colfax Avenue and Tower Road tomorrow, March 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to perform a roadway repair.

The condition of this roadway has deteriorated due to continued moisture from winter weather and several freeze/thaw cycles making an emergency permanent repair necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

"Typically, we try to work at night to mitigate any disruption to traffic. In this case, we must work during the day due to the availability of concrete needed for the job," said Tony DeVito, CDOT Region 1 Transportation Director. "Our role is to provide and maintain a safe driving surface for motorists. We're taking this commitment seriously by mobilizing tomorrow for this emergency repair."

The permanent repair work includes removing damaged concrete pavement and replacing it with high strength concrete. To detour around the westbound I-70 closure, motorists will take Colfax Avenue to Tower Road, then return to westbound I-70. For information on other projects, visit http://www.cotrip.org/roadConditions.htm, call 511 or download the CDOT mobile app.
