Denver, CO. – A Bill to change the name of a portion of Hwy. 93 in Jefferson County will be read Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015 at 9 a.m. at the Colorado State Capitol on the floor of the House of Representatives. The new name will be the “JCSO Sergeant David M. Baldwin Memorial Highway”. The section to be renamed on Hwy. 93 is from mile marker 0 to Colorado State Hwy. 72.
This event honors the legacy of Sgt. David Baldwin who was killed in a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver while on patrol on his motorcycle on January 26, 2014. Sgt. Baldwin was a strong supporter of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s activities that sponsored enforcement programs throughout Colorado. His legacy will continue to be one of dedication, commitment and loyalty to his community, family and to law enforcement. This extraordinary Colorado peace officer is a tribute to all who serve and protect.
The Colorado Department of Transportation serves the citizens of Colorado through highway construction projects, highway maintenance projects, and safety initiatives and campaigns to reduce impaired driving, increase seat belt usage, train motorcyclists, keep child passengers safe, and more.
This bill reading precedes an official renaming ceremony which will take place spring 2015. Law enforcement and other interested parties will be notified of the date, time and location.
