WESTBOUND US 36 TRAFFIC REALIGNMENT WILL RESULT IN WEEKEND RAMP CLOSURES

December 2, 2014 - Metro Denver Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - BROOMFIELD – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the westbound US 36 off-ramp to Wadsworth Parkway starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 through 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Additionally, the northbound Wadsworth Parkway loop on-ramp to westbound US 36 will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 through 8 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.

If construction activities are completed early, the ramps will reopen at the time of completion.

“We are closing these ramps so we can realign westbound traffic onto the new concrete pavement from the US 36 bridge over BNSF Railway (just west of Church Ranch Boulevard) to Wadsworth Parkway,” said CDOT Project Director Mark Gosselin. “This milestone brings us one step closer to finishing the permanent paving on the project.”

Traffic will follow the posted detour routes, but motorists are advised to use alternate routes if possible. RTD buses will be flagged through the area. Please note that the location of the westbound US 36 and Broomfield bus stop will be moved 25 feet toward the new concrete.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1, from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior, will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2, from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, will open in 2016.
