Upcoming Overnight Closures for Bridge Work on C-470 at I-25

October 23, 2014 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Ramps connecting northbound I-25 to westbound C-470 and eastbound C-470 to northbound I-25 impacted.

DENVER – Crews performing maintenance activities to two bridges at the C-470 and I-25 interchange will require overnight closures of these structures this coming week. In conjunction with this work, motorists should watch for the following traffic impacts during preparation for the upcoming bridge bearing and joint replacements.

  • Sunday, Oct. 26, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Crews will close the bridge connecting northbound I-25 to westbound C-470.
  • Monday, Oct. 27, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Crews will close the bridge connecting eastbound C-470 to northbound I-25.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 28, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Crews will close the bridge connecting northbound I-25 to westbound C-470.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 29, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Crews will close the bridge connecting eastbound C-470 to northbound I-25.
  • Thursday, Oct. 30, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Crews will close the bridge connecting eastbound C-470 to northbound I-25.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:

  • Northbound I-25 to westbound C-470 Detour: To detour around this closure, northbound I-25 motorists looking to transition to westbound C-470 will be directed to take eastbound E-470, exiting at Peoria St. Motorists will then take a left at the bottom of the ramp (joining northbound Peoria St.) and then another left to join westbound E-470 traffic via the highway on-ramp. They will then keep left to make the transition from westbound E-470 to westbound C-470.
    • E-470 tolls at the Peoria St. interchange (only) will be waived while the detours are in effect. All other E-470 tolls will remain in effect.

  • Eastbound C-470 to northbound I-25 Detour: To detour around this closure, eastbound C-470 motorists looking to transition to northbound I-25 will be directed to take eastbound E-470, exiting at Peoria St. Motorists will then take a left at the bottom of the ramp (joining northbound Peoria St.) and then another left to join westbound E-470 traffic via the highway on-ramp. Once on westbound E-470, motorists will be directed to the northbound I-25 on-ramp.
    • E-470 tolls at the Peoria St. interchange (only) will be waived while the detours are in effect. All other E-470 tolls will remain in effect.

“One of our main goals is minimizing inconvenience to the traveling public,” said CDOT Project Resident Engineer Dole Grebenik. “By timing this work to take place overnight and wrapping up before the start of the morning commute, we’re confident of achieving that goal.”
