SH 14 (Main Street) work through Sterling continues through November
This week westbound lanes on Main Street from Ballpark Road to N. 8th Avenue have been closed and traffic has been shifted to the eastbound lanes. Grade preparations for the concrete paving work will take place in the next week. Earthwork operations will begin near N. 9th Avenue and proceed west. City streets and business access on the north side of Main Street will experience temporary closures to accommodate the work. Alternate routes are advised.
This $7.7 million project on State Highway 14 (West Main Street), between South 9th Avenue and County Road 35, is contracted to Scott Contracting. Work will include: reclaiming asphalt pavement, placing concrete pavement, replacing the City’s water main and water services, driveways, curb and gutter, sidewalks, medians, installing handicap accessible ramps, and improving signals, street lighting, signing and striping. Concrete patching will also occur between South 9th Avenue and Division Avenue.
The project will last through November. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., motorists will encounter lane shifts to accommodate the work. The speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph in the work zones.
