Full US 36 Closure for McCaslin Bridge Deck Pour

September 8, 2014 - Metro Denver Colorado/Region 1 - Highway will be closed under the bridge on the night of Thursday, Sept. 11

LOUISVILLE/SUPERIOR – As part of the US 36 Express Lanes Project, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close eastbound and westbound US 36, Sept. 11, 10 p.m.-5:30 a.m., for approximately a quarter of a mile on each side of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge to pour the concrete deck for the portion of the bridge that was recently widened. Traffic will be detoured at the off-ramps and routed immediately back onto eastbound and westbound US 36 via the McCaslin on-ramps.

The McCaslin bridge is being widened to accommodate a Diverging Diamond Interchange, which crosses traffic to the opposite side of the road across and interchange so vehicles have unimpeded movement onto the freeway ramps. The McCaslin bridge is being completed in phases to accommodate traffic and will be complete in late 2015.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1, from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior, will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2, from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Boulder, will open in early 2016.
