C-470 Corridor Coalition Hosting Public Open House Meetings

September 16, 2014 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Residents can learn more about improvements coming in 2016.

DOUGLAS COUNTY – The C-470 Corridor Coalition is continuing its public outreach with a series of four open houses to discuss proposed improvements of the freeway and adding tolled Express Lanes.

The open houses are the second in a series of educational outreach forums hosted by the coalition. Three county-specific telephone town halls were conducted between Sept. 9-11, reaching thousands of residents along the corridor.

"The telephone town hall meetings we conducted earlier this week were great for reaching thousands of people, but they were no substitute for the personal interaction that comes from attending a public meeting," said Centennial Mayor Cathy Noon, chair of the C-470 Corridor Coalition's Policy Committee.

The open house schedule:

Monday, Sept. 15              Ken Caryl Ranch House

6-8 pm                             7676 South Continental Divide Road, Littleton

Tuesday, Sept. 16              Highlands Ranch Metro District Office

6-8 pm                             62 Plaza Drive, Highlands Ranch

Wednesday, Sept. 17         Lone Tree Arts Center

6-8 pm                             10075 Commons Street, Lone Tree

Thursday, Sept. 18            Homestead Elementary School

6-8 pm                             7451 South Homestead Parkway, Centennial

Each meeting will include an overview presentation at 6:30 p.m., information boards for people to review and the chance to ask questions of CDOT and coalition representatives.

The C-470 Coalition was formed in 2011 to provide a forum for local governments, business organizations and citizens to consider funding options and ultimately reach consensus on a plan to pay for C-470 improvements.

The Coalition is currently preparing a Revised Environmental Assessment (EA).  The tolled Express Lanes alternative being analyzed has different access designs and locations, no longer includes a barrier separation and adds auxiliary lanes in select locations.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2016 and is expected to last for two years.
