Reconstruction of SH 86 (Founders Parkway) to Begin in Castle Rock

August 22, 2014 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Project runs I-25 to Woodlands Boulevard.

Castle Rock, CO – The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin the reconstruction of a 1.3-mile segment of SH 86 (Founders Parkway) from I-25 to Woodlands Boulevard in Castle Rock on Monday, Aug. 25. The $6.9M project, awarded to Concrete Works of Colorado, is expected to be complete in July 2015.

Normal work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some night and weekend work is anticipated. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph through the 1.3-mile stretch. Motorists can expect lane shifts as well as intermittent 72-hour closures at intersections while crews complete the removal and placement of new pavement in those locations. During intersection closures, detour signs will guide motorists to alternate routes. Minimal delays are expected throughout the duration of the project and access to business will be maintained.

The project will completely reconstruct SH 86 with new concrete pavement, a raised median, and a new storm drainage system. The work includes new curb and gutter, sidewalk, ADA curb ramps and landscaping. Additionally, the eastbound lanes that cross over I-25 will be expanded from 2 to 3 lanes and the Northbound I-25 off ramp will be widened.
