I-70 Frontage Road Work Underway in Vail

July 25, 2014 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - EAGLE COUNTY — Road Improvements are underway on 7.7 miles of frontage road in the town of Vail. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) project consists of milling off the old roadway and replacing it with new asphalt, ADA curb ramp improvements and guardrail replacement.

The project begins at mile marker 172.2 and extends to mile marker 179.9.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:  Both north and south frontage roads will see intermittent left and right lane closures, including both the west Vail and main Vail roundabouts.  Construction hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to noon on Friday. No weekend hours are scheduled at this time. The speed limit is reduced to 25 mph through the work zone, with the exception of Ma Bell Road, which is reduced to 20 mph. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should pay attention to work zone signs and flaggers.

Elam Construction, Inc. of Grand Junction, Colorado is the contractor for the $3.1 million project.  It is scheduled for completion in October 2014.
