Hazmat Loads to be Escorted Over US 6/Loveland Pass During the Triple Bypass Bike Race
This effort is being coordinated by the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) in support of the Triple Bypass Bike Race taking place over Loveland Pass.
Only official Triple Bypass event vehicles will be allowed to proceed westbound past the Loveland Basin Aid Station at the base of Loveland Pass. A Colorado State Patrol trooper will escort any commercial vehicles transporting hazmat loads at 10:30 a.m. eastbound and 11:00 a.m. westbound. Hourly this schedule will be continued.
Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews will be working with CSP to stage hazmat trucks as follows:

Staging for westbound hazmat trucks will use the off-ramp at I-70 at mile marker 216.

Hazmat vehicles will start being held at 10:00 a.m. on both days. CSP escorts all hazmat vehicles westbound on the hour starting at 11:00 a.m., then 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Park hazmat commercial vehicles at CO 6 eastbound milepost 217.99 in the eastbound lane of US 6.

Begin holding all eastbound hazmat loads at 10:00 a.m. CSP escorts all hazmat vehicles eastbound to I-70 on the half hour 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m.
Variable messaging boards along the I-70 corridor will message the closure.
