US 36 Closures to Continue Tonight, June 17, for McCaslin Demolition

It may be necessary for this work to continue through Thursday, June 19. Closures will be from 10 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. These closures are weather permitting and will take place for a quarter of a mile on each side of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge.

This work is part of Phase 2 of the project, which will widen the existing McCaslin Boulevard bridge to accommodate the Diverging Diamond Interchange. The demolition is being done on the northern side of the bridge. Following this partial demolition of the McCaslin Boulevard bridge, crews will construct the abutments and build the center pier. After that, crews will set the girders and pour the concrete bridge deck.

Traffic will be detoured at the US 36 off-ramps to McCaslin Boulevard and routed immediately back onto US 36 via the on-ramps.

The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1 is currently under construction from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior and will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2 from 88^th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Broomfield recently began construction and will open in 2016.
