US 160/550 CFI Project Update

May 16, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Major work winding down in business zone, crews wrap up College striping prior to holiday weekend break

DURANGO, CO — Crews with CDOT and Concrete Works of Colorado are on the final push to exit the business section of US 550/Camino del Rio for the Continuous Flow Intersection project. During the week of May 19 at the College Drive intersection, green pavement markings for bicyclists will be completed. One-lane business access will be maintained during this phase of roadway striping. Minor cleanup and repair work will also be taking place throughout the work area in an effort to suspend construction for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Apart from conducting minimal side work, all construction crews will be off the road by Friday morning, May 23. Normal construction will resume on Tuesday, May 27. An update with the post-holiday schedule will be provided next week.

NEW Travel Impacts for the upcoming week:

College Drive/Camino del Rio Intersection: Friday, May 16 through Thursday, May 22, travelers should expect one-lane closures on College Drive on both the east and west side from 7:30 a.m. into the night (business access will be maintained).

US 160/550 Thru Lanes (Camino del Rio) Peak Travel Times: Two lanes in each direction of travel will remain open during peak hours—before 8:30 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m., seven days a week.

Night Work: Travelers should expect one-lane closures in every direction around the College Drive intersection after 6:30 p.m. into the night.

US 160/550 (Camino del Rio) Turn Lanes, Side Streets: Intermittent closures may be in effect at any time during the day and night.

Travel delays will vary depending on the time of day and volume of traffic. Motorists should plan their trips accordingly and are reminded to keep speeds down for the safety of the workers and pedestrians crossing in this area. The entire project will be completed by mid-August 2014.
