Glenwood Canyon Bike Path Reopened

May 16, 2014 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - GARFIELD COUNTY – Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews have reopened the stretch of bike path from Shoshone to Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon due to water levels dropping this week. Crews will continue to monitor the path daily.

“Our goal is to be sure we are providing a safe environment for bicyclists and pedestrians on the trail,” said Adonna McDade-Ward , CDOT Transportation Maintenance Supervisor.  “Weather permitting we will keep the path open, however as temperatures rise you may see the water levels increase and that would require us to close the path again,“ she stated.

In order to maintain pathway safety, CDOT reminds cyclists and pedestrians to please obey all warning and closure signs.  Cooperation from all users is greatly appreciated.  To check on status of the bike path please visit www.cotrip.org and click on the Road Conditions tab.  Updates are also available via Twitter @coloradodot and be sure to “Like” our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/coloradodot
