Work continues Tuesday night to replace bridge expansion joints
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Overnight work at Interstate 25 and North Gate Boulevard will impact traffic until mid June. Beginning Monday night, April 21, crews will begin preparing the I-25 bridge over North Gate Boulevard for expansion joint replacement. Work will continue Tuesday night, April 22 and will be complete by 5 a.m., Wednesday.
- The work Tuesday night requires short-term closures of onramps from North Gate Boulevard to northbound and southbound I-25 to move paving equipment. Those closures begin at 8:30 p.m. and work on the ramps is expected to take several hours. Additionally, there will be double-lane closures of northbound and southbound I-25 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Those closures will be compete by
5 a.m., Wednesday.
- Beginning Wednesday, April 23, drivers can expect nighttime double-lane closures on northbound I-25 as crews remove and replace the expansion joint. Again, those closures will begin at 10 p.m. and will be open by 5 a.m. the next day.
Work on the bridge carrying northbound traffic is expected to be complete, weather and road conditions permitting, by May 18. At that time, crews will shift to work on the bridge carrying southbound traffic, which should be complete by mid June.
