US 40 Closed at El Rancho Due to Sinkhole

April 15, 2014 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER/WESTERN COLORADO —The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has closed US 40 in both directions from Soda Creek to El Rancho due to a sinkhole that has developed on the roadway.

The sinkhole is approximately 8 feet wide. Crews will be replacing a pipe with upgraded materials that is 10 feet deep and 100 feet long in order to handle the increased water flow and stabilize the area. Crews anticipate this work to be lengthy and the road is expected to remain closed overnight. Motorists looking to access Evergreen should continue on I-70 to exit 253, Chief Hosa.
