US 160/550 CFI Project Making Progress
DURANGO, CO — CDOT and Concrete Works of Colorado, Inc. are making good progress on the US 160/550 Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) project scheduled for completion in mid-August. This past week crews installed curb and gutter, as well as raised crosswalks for increased pedestrian safety at College Drive.
Efforts to relocate utilities underground and remove the concrete in the center painted median between College Avenue and the intersection of US 550/160 will begin on Monday, April 14. A new 20-inch raised, vegetated median will be constructed, ultimately extending to 8th Street. Crews will also begin installing grooves in the concrete where the inlaid pavement markings will go.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Lane closure hours are limited to off-peak travel times, which are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays. Motorists should expect single-lane closures in all directions throughout the construction zone. Depending on the time of day and volume of traffic, delays can vary. Motorists should plan their trips accordingly are reminded to keep speeds down for the safety of the workers and pedestrians crossing in this area.
