US 160/550 CFI Focuses on the College Drive Intersection with Left Turn Lane Closures for the Week of April 27

April 25, 2014 - PROJECT UPDATE - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - DURANGO, CO — CDOT and Concrete Works of Colorado, Inc. will be working on the College Drive/Camino del Rio intersection as well as removing the center median on US 550 from College Drive to 8th Street the week of April 27, 2014.

During the week, travelers should consider alternate routes for those heading south on US 550 and wanting to turn left onto College Drive as the left turn lane will be closed most of the week. To minimize the amount of time the left turn lane will be closed, crews will be working on Sunday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. with anticipated one-lane closures in both directions on US 550.

NEW!  TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

US 160/550 Intersection to 8th Street: Wide load restrictions of 10 feet through the work zone will be in effect starting Monday, April 28 at 8:30 a.m. The restrictions will be in place for two weeks, Monday through Friday, ending the week of May 12. Weekend restrictions are not anticipated at this time.

College Drive: Sidewalk detours and temporary closures are expected along College Drive. The left turn lane onto College Drive heading southbound on US 550/Camino del Rio will be closed for most of the week.

US 160/550 Thru Lanes (Camino del Rio) Non-Peak Travel Times: Two lanes in each direction of travel will remain open during peak hours—before 8:30 a.m. and after 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and after 2 p.m. on Fridays.

US 160/550 Thru Lanes (Camino del Rio) Peak Travel Times:

Single-lane closures between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. are expected – (hours have been extended from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

US 160/550 Thru Lanes (Camino del Rio) Weekend Work:

Weekend travelers should expect single-lane closures on Sunday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

US 160/550 (Camino del Rio) Turn Lanes, Side Streets: Single-lane closures may be in effect at any time during the day (and night, when scheduled).

US 160 West:  No work on US 160 west is anticipated.

9th Street: No work is anticipated on either side of 9th Street.

Travel delays will vary depending on the time of day and volume of traffic.  Motorists should plan their trips accordingly and are reminded to keep speeds down for the safety of the workers and pedestrians crossing in this area.
