Full US 36 Closure Between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard
This closure is necessary to install the new bridge that will carry irrigation pipes and a segment of the project’s new bikeway across US 36. The closure is necessary for safety of the traveling public during the installation, and drivers can use the detour in the image below.
The new 120,000-pound bridge was assembled off site and will be lifted into place Friday evening. The public is invited to watch the bridge installation, which will likely take place between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. midnight. The viewing area is located near Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville. To access the viewing area, park near the Flatirons Surgery Center, 70 Health Park Drive, Louisville, 80027 (located around the back of Avista Adventist Hospital). Click here for a map of the detour route.
The US 36 Express Lanes Project is a multi-modal project that will build an express lane in each direction on US 36. The lanes will accommodate High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), Bus Rapid Transit and tolled Single Occupancy Vehicles. In addition, the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway, add Bus Rapid Transit improvements, and install Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for tolling, transit and traveler information, and incident management. Phase 1 is currently under construction from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street in Louisville/Superior and will open to the public in 2015. Phase 2 from 88th Street to Table Mesa Drive in Broomfield recently began construction and will open in 2016.
