CDOT’s Summer Maintenance Activities Increase as Warm Weather Holds

April 11, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Spring snowmelt and some periodic adverse conditions in the mountains will keep Colorado Department of Transportation crews readied for winter maintenance, but crews have been tackling summer maintenance projects as weather permits.

Each summer CDOT maintenance crews attend to a wide variety of on- and off-road activities, including:  slope and fence repair, rockfall work, litter removal (with the help of Adopt a Highway Volunteers) and highway resurfacing and repairs. In the Durango Maintenance Section,* crews take care of 1,750 lane-miles (the combined lengths of each lane on every highway in the section). Below is a look at next week’s work that will impact traffic. Thank you for driving “Slow for the Cone Zone!”
