Signal Cabinet Upgrades Underway in Cortez
CORTEZ, CO — The Colorado Department of Transportation is in the process of upgrading signal cabinets on US 160 (Main), US 491 (Broadway) and SH 145 in Cortez. The new signal cabinets will enable uninterrupted power source through a battery back-up, as well as provide the option for fiber optic upgrades in the future. Six cabinets have been replaced to date and four more are scheduled.
CDOT crews will work on the cabinet at Main and Mildred Street tomorrow, March 5. From 9:00 a.m. to about 2:00 p.m., traffic will be reduced to a single lane in all directions and motorists should expect short delays. This same work will be underway at the following locations in the near future: Main and Market (possible Thursday, March 6); Main and Chestnut and Main and Maple (both later in March, weather permitting).
Cabinets have been replaced already at SH 145 and Sligo, Broadway and Main, Broadway and 7th Street, Main and Harris, Main and Ash and US 491 and County Road G. Each cabinet costs approximately $6,500.
