Rockfall Update – SH 65 De Beque and the Grand Mesa
DEBEQUE, COLORADO, Monday, March 10 – Crews from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Yenter Construction are working this morning to demolish a couple more of the larger boulders on the roadway. Once the debris is cleared, CDOT crews will construct a temporary patch of the road.
“We will do what we need to get the road back into good working condition,” said TJ Blake, CDOT Deputy Superintendent. “Once the asphalt plants get fired up for the construction season, our plan is to go back in there this summer and do a permanent repair,” he said.
CDOT crews have estimated that they have cleared about 600 tons of rock debris from the slide site.
