I-70 Eastbound Closed at Eisenhower Tunnel

March 11, 2014 - Metro Denver Colorado/CDOT Region 1, Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Eastbound Traffic Held at Silverthorne, Loveland Ski Area and at the Tunnel

The Colorado Department of Transportation has closed I-70 eastbound at the Eisenhower Tunnel due to a multi-car accident at mile maker 220. Eastbound traffic is being held at Silverthorne so as not to back up traffic heading eastbound towards the tunnel. Traffic is also being held at Loveland Ski Area and Loveland Pass is closed to eastbound traffic.

CDOT crews have been on full snow shift all along the mountain corridors since prior to the storm and crews will continue to until all roadways are clear of snow and ice. This stretch of roadway has four snow plows in the area treating the roadway and removing snow and ice.

There is no estimated time for reopening this stretch of roadway. Motorists headed eastbound on I-70 along the mountain corridor should expect heavy delays and stopped traffic. Drivers are encouraged to drive according to conditions. Adverse weather is expected to continue throughout the evening along this corridor and drivers should use caution.
