REMINDER: Final Flood-related Debris Removal Scheduled for State Highway 72 on Monday, February 17

February 12, 2014 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Only flood-related debris will be accepted

JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Phillips and Jordan, Inc. have set the final dates and drop off locations for debris removal along State Highway 72 in the flood-impacted areas. The date for drop off is weather dependent, and crews will verify that all debris is flood-related. Due to winter weather conditions (snow, high winds, ice, etc.), flood-related debris should only be brought to the drop-off location a day or two prior to the date of pickup identified below. Non-flood related dumping of any kind is not permitted on the flood-impacted highways in the right-of-way, and those who do so will be subject to punishment by law enforcement. Residents may bring only flood-related debris to the following location on the following date:

  • State Highway (SH) 72:
    • o Final pass will be on Monday, February 17.
    • o Flood-related vegetative debris may be brought to MP 14.46 at the pullout on the north side of the road.
    • o Flood-related construction and demolition waste may be brought to MP 15.2 at the pullout on the north side of the road.

Vegetative debris is defined as branches, plants, trees, and grass that came loose during the flood. Construction and demolition debris is defined as wood framing from houses, furniture, carpet, clothes, concrete, etc. Regular household garbage will not be accepted and should be disposed of by residents. Once collected, debris is taken directly to local landfills for final disposal or to CDOT properties to be reduced and eventually used for construction or slope stabilization.
