Rockfall Update - US 550 Red Mountain Pass

January 23, 2014 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Much more scaling completed today; crews will work through the weekend.

OURAY COUNTY – Today crews made progress today scaling more loose rock from the south side of the talus slope (loose rock field) and drilling for rock anchors upon which the rockfall netting will be hung.

Work will continue through the weekend with scaling and netting installation. An update will be sentFriday night on weekend work and, when netting is complete, an assessment of any necessary follow-up scaling.
