CDOT Unveils Colorado Transportation Story Video and Extends Survey Deadline
DENVER – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is releasing a new video entitled The Colorado Transportation Story as part of its ongoing Statewide Transportation Plan development effort.
The video – located at http://coloradotransportationmatters.com/video/ – provides an overview of current and future transportation issues in the state, explains the importance of the Statewide Transportation Plan, and invites members of the public to become active participants in the collaborative plan development process.
In keeping with this call for public involvement, CDOT is extending the response deadline for its Colorado Transportation Survey until the end of December. Since it was unveiled last month, the survey has received more than 1,500 responses from the public regarding the future of the state’s transportation system. Because of this great response, CDOT is extending the survey period until Tuesday, December 31.
“The public response on how they’d like to see us invest in the future of our transportation system is very encouraging,” said CDOT Executive Director Don Hunt, “and that’s why we’re extending the deadline. Since the plan guides us on how we should invest our limited transportation budget, it’s essential that we hear from as many people as possible as we move forward to improve our infrastructure, enhance our economy and, in turn, improve our way of life.”
In addition to watching the new video and providing comments via the online survey, visitors to the Statewide Plan website are able to explore the transportation issues facing Colorado, learn more about the vision for the plan, and participate in ongoing public involvement activities. Coloradans are encouraged to check the website often to provide their input and discover new plan elements as they are rolled out.
The Statewide Transportation Plan is scheduled to be released in mid-2014.
