Upcoming Traffic Shift on I-25 near Castle Pines

October 3, 2013 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - DOUGLAS COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be shifting traffic on Interstate 25 between RidgeGate Parkway and Surrey Ridge this weekend as part of an extensive bridge rehabilitation project.

Beginning on Sunday at about 9 a.m., drivers can expect the following:

  • Southbound I-25 – Traffic remains in its current configuration over Happy Canyon Creek Road, just south of RidgeGate, but then shifts from the median area to the shoulder area at Surrey Ridge.  I-25 is reduced from four to three lanes through the project area.
  • Northbound I-25 – Traffic remains down to three lanes through Surrey Ridge but traffic will be shifted to the median area.  North of Surrey Ridge, all four lanes are open to traffic, with only a shoulder closure in place.

CDOT began work on the $1.8 million project in August to replace numerous concrete slabs and all the expansion joints on the bridges at Surrey Ridge Road and Happy Canyon Creek Road, in order to extend the life of the pavement and the bridge.

By spending now for maintenance, higher costs can be avoided in the future both for the bridge replacement and vehicle wear and tear.
