October 15, 2013 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is rescheduling the overnight closure of eastbound U.S. 24 at Union Boulevard until next week.

Work on the bridge improvement project originally was scheduled for this week.

Eastbound U.S. 24 will be closed at Union from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. on the following dates:

  • Sunday, Oct. 20
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30
  • Thursday, Oct. 31

While the closure is in place, all traffic will need to detour to northbound Union, then east on Fountain Boulevard to Highway 24.

In addition to the full highway closure, single lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Mondaythrough Thursday, Oct. 21 through 24, and Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 27 through 29.

The closures are necessary so CDOT can replace the expansion joints on the U.S. 24/Circle Drive Bridges as part of a maintenance project to extend the lifespan of 16 structures along I-25 and Highway 24 through Colorado Springs.
