XCEL Energy to Close I-70 Near I-25 This Weekend
September 11, 2013 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - DENVER – Starting at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14 and continuing until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16, Xcel Energy will close eastbound and westbound I-70 near I-25 in order to relocate overhead transmission lines in preparation for a project that will construct light rail.
As a result, the following closures will be in place:
- Westbound I-70 between I-25 and Pecos Street: All lanes of westbound I-70 will be closed from 3:30 a.m. on Saturday to 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Detour: Motorists can take northbound I-25 to westbound I-76.
- Eastbound I-70 between I-76 and I-25: All lanes of eastbound I-70 will be closed from 3:30 a.m. on Saturday to 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Detour:Motorists can take westbound I-76 to southbound I-25.
Please plan accordingly as major delays are expected and alternate routes such as US 6 area advised.
