Upcoming Lane Shift on I-25

September 3, 2013 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - DOUGLAS COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be shifting the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 between RidgeGate Parkway and Castle Pines Parkway next week as part of an extensive bridge rehabilitation project.

Beginning on Monday morning, September 9, a right lane closure will be in place southbound, with the three remaining traffic lanes shifted to the left, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Northbound I-25 remains in its current configuration, with a left lane closure in place and three lanes open around the clock.

The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph though the construction zone.  Thank you for going Slow for the Cone Zone!

CDOT began work on the $1.8 million project late last month to replace numerous concrete slabs and all the expansion joints on the bridges at Surrey Ridge Road and Happy Canyon Creek Road, just south of RidgeGate, in order to extend the life of the pavement and the bridge. In addition, slab corrections and jacking will take place at RidgeGate.

Concrete expansion on the bridges has resulted in bumps along the bridges, impacting the smoothness of the drive.  The slab replacement will eliminate the bumps and improve the smoothness of the roadway.  By spending now for maintenance, higher costs can be avoided in the future both for the bridge replacement and vehicle wear and tear.

ABCO Contracting, Inc. of Denver is the contractor for the project.  It is scheduled for completion in November 2013.
