Full Closures, both directions, on SH 145 Lizard Head Pass this Tuesday Night

September 27, 2013 - PROJECT UPDATE - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - SAN MIGUEL COUNTY – The work to install one-half of the new concrete box culvert (CBC) under SH 145 on Lizard Head Pass will require a full closure of both lanes this coming Tuesday night, starting a 10 p.m. (October 1) and ending at 4 a.m. (October 2).

Please note: traffic will be able to pass through the work site, at mile point 57.6, at least every two hours, if not more frequently. The full closure in both directions is necessary due to the size of the crane used to maneuver the CBC.

The Colorado Department of Transportation began this project on September 4 and the work is slated for completion in October, date is weather permitting. The project is replacing a corroded steel culvert (installed in 1966) with the CBC, necessitating a cut in the highway and a 24/7 single-lane closure.

The work was contracted to Habitat Construction for $492,000.

GENERAL TRAVEL IMPACTS: During roadway repairs described above, motorists will encounter single-lane, alternating traffic near MP 57, 24/7, likely directed by flaggers during the day and a signal at night, until the highway cut is closed. Then motorists can expect daytime single-lane, alternating traffic through the project’s completion in October.
