CDOT Begins Culvert Replacement on SH 145 Lizard Head Pass

September 2, 2013 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - SAN MIGUEL COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin a project Wednesday, September 4, to replacea corroded steel culvert (installed in 1966) under SH 145 on Lizard Head Pass (mile point 57.6).

The work will involve replacement of the steel culvert with a concrete pipe, necessitating a cut in the highway and a 24/7 lane closure.

The work was contracted to Habitat Construction for $492,000.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: During roadway repairs described above, motorists will encounter single-lane, alternating traffic near MP 57, 24/7, likely directed by flaggers during the day and a signal at night, until the highway cut is closed. Then motorists can expect daytime single-lane, alternating traffic through the project’s completion in October.
