I-70 Eagle Interchange - Phase 3 Construction Now Moves into South-side Traffic Switch

August 30, 2013 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - On Wednesday, September 4, Phase 3 construction activities will necessitate a traffic switch south of I-70 (last week, there was a traffic switch on the north side of I-70, which remains in place).

The coordinated traffic switch will occur along Eby Creek Road south of I-70, and also necessitate a full closure to the Loren Lane entrance off of Eby Creek Road through mid-October. At that time, the Loaf n’ Jug entrance off of Eby Creek Road will re-open to traffic.

Phase 3 construction in this area will take place primarily on the east half of Eby Creek Road between Chambers Avenue and I-70. Phase 3 is estimated to end in mid-October. Currently, construction is progressing on schedule.

TRAFFIC SWITCH IMPACTS MINIMAL- After the traffic switch on the south side, the existing number of travel and turn lanes will be maintained, but traffic will be shifted into a slightly different configuration. Access to homes and businesses will not be impacted, and no closures or delays are expected.

GENERAL TRAVEL IMPACTS - (For weekly lane closure reports, posted each Friday, please consult the project web page or sign up to receive updates; details below.) Normal construction hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and motorists should anticipate some single-lane reductions at the interchange throughout the duration of construction.

PROJECT PROGRESS - Phase 2 of construction will wrap up over the next two weeks as Phase 3 gets underway. Phase 2 work has included:

Construction of the west half of the Eby Creek Road new roadway between I-70 and Chambers
·         New underground utilities between I-70 and Chambers
·         Construction of two new off-ramps at I-70
·         Construction on the north side between I-70 and Market Street
